Insight Policy Research to monitor and evaluate CMS’s End-Stage Renal Disease Quality Improvement Program

October 5, 2021 by Caroline Brent-Chessum

Insight Policy Research (Insight) was awarded a $5.8 million, 5-year contract to monitor and evaluate the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Quality Improvement Program (QIP). First implemented in 2012, the ESRD QIP is a value-based purchasing program whereby dialysis facilities receive a prospective payment for their patient care, provided these facilities are meeting the minimum requirements to ensure high-quality care. The program affects approximately 7,700 dialysis facilities and more than 785,000 patients.

Insight is pleased to partner with Arbor Research Collaborative for Health in conducting this important work for CMS. The team’s efforts will provide CMS critical visibility into the latest ESRD patient outcomes and recommendations for the improvement of future management of ESRD QIP.

Terry Moore, senior vice president at Insight states, “The ESRD Monitoring and Evaluation award recognizes Insight’s record of research excellence. We are excited to continue supporting CMS’s efforts to improve the quality of patient care.”
