Certifying infants and their mothers for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Woman, Infants, and Children (WIC) soon after birth, particularly in the hospital setting, has the potential to increase awareness of the program, decrease enrollment burdens on eligible participants, and increase timely access to benefits after birth.
