Who is Certified for WIC Shortly after Birth?

Certifying infants and their mothers for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Woman, Infants, and Children (WIC) soon after birth, particularly in the hospital setting, has the potential to increase awareness of the program, decrease enrollment burdens on eligible participants, and increase timely access to benefits after birth. This infographic summarizes data on the prevalence of certification within 4 days of birth for infants participating in WIC across states, participant characteristics, and time.
