Evaluation of the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education Program
Project Overview
This study evaluated the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program. The ATE program seeks to produce more highly qualified science and engineering technicians to meet workforce demands in strategic advanced technology fields and improve the technical skills and general science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (known as STEM) preparation of these technicians and the educators who prepare them. To accomplish these goals, the program provides awards primarily to 2-year institutions, requiring them to collaborate with industry partners. NSF contracted with Insight to conduct a mixed-methods evaluation of the ATE program focused on ATE center and project awards funded from fiscal year (FY) 2007 through FY 2018.
