The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) supports high-quality, patient-centered outcomes and comparative effectiveness research to help patients, clinicians, purchaser, payers, policymakers, and other stakeholders make better informed health and healthcare decisions. PCORI’s portfolio is wide-ranging, covering topics from comparative effectiveness of treatments for children with asthma to options for patients with cardiovascular diseases and comprehensive care coordination programs. The goal of this project was to help PCORI identify the extent to which its studies focused on comprehensive care coordination programs for managing children and adults with severe chronic disease, the clinical and patient-reported primary outcomes considered in the studies, and the primary decisions the studies helped payers make.
In this quick-turnaround project, Insight developed a systematic approach to rapidly identify projects awarded in the PCORI portfolio that focused on comprehensive care coordination programs, particularly those that were primarily research.
