Promise Neighborhoods
Project Overview
Promise Neighborhoods is a place-based initiative of the U.S. Department of Education providing funding to eligible entities. Promise Neighborhoods grantees represent geographic areas that have experienced economic distress and face consequences such as—
- Inadequate access to high-quality early learning programs and services
- Low rates of high school and college graduation
- High rates of unemployment
- High rates of crime
- Indicators of poor health
The Promise Neighborhoods program seeks to improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children and youth in these communities. Partnering with strong organizations, the program seeks to ensure all children and youth in a Promise Neighborhood have access to programs, services, and supports that help them succeed in school and beyond.
Insight is delivering training and technical assistance to the Promise Neighborhoods grantees, aspiring grantees, and the U.S. Department of Education. This assistance helps ensure grantees successfully implement their projects, informs the broader field, and assists the Department of Education in developing relevant policy. Insight’s tasks focus on skill development, knowledge transfer, performance measurement, and program evaluation. The training and technical assistance also helps ensure compliance with federal regulations, promotes adoption of best practices, and improves the quality of services.
