Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office Integrated Program Operations, Research and Technical Support

Project Overview

The Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) is responsible for all prevention, advocacy, response, and oversight activities related to sexual assault within the Department of Defense (DoD). SAPRO’s mission is to promote military readiness by reducing and eliminating sexual assault through the execution of policy, programs, and oversight across DoD to prevent sexual assault and facilitate recovery for survivors. Each year SAPRO produces two congressionally mandated reports—the Annual Report on Sexual Assault in the Military and the Annual Report on Sexual Harassment and Violence at the Military Service Academies. These reports document the prevalence and reporting of sexual assault in the Services and at the Military Service Academies.

Insight supports SAPRO’s critically important work by—

  • Providing scientific research and analysis support of DoD and Service policies, programs, strategies, metrics, reporting, data, and other research outcomes related to sexual assault
  • Coordinating and contributing to congressionally mandated reports tracking the reporting and prevalence of sexual assault in the DoD community
  • Contributing to and preparing high-level briefings and products for senior DoD leaders and other relevant stakeholders
  • Reviewing and advising on ongoing surveys and research within DoD and the Services related to sexual assault
